New Charity Patron for local Charity
Blackrod Sports and Community Centre are delighted to announce our newest Charity Patron is the Hon Phil Brickell MP for Bolton West and Atherton.
Ann Brooks Chair of Trustees of the Blackrod Sports and Community Centre Charity said “I warmly welcome our new MP Phil Brickell as the latest of our Charity Patrons. Our Blackrod sports and community centre has been run by local people for the benefit of our community for the last 7 years. We know that Phil has been to many events at the Centre before and has seen first-hand the excellent work we do for the local community providing Blackrod, Horwich and surrounding areas a comprehensive health and well being programme. Through the funding we have secured we are now offering over 35 funded classes, free of charge to local people and we look forward to working with Phil. We hope that as a Patron of our charity he will champion these vital programmes in Bolton and in Parliament. ”

It’s an honour to have been invited to be a patron of Blackrod Sports and Community Centre charity. It’s my intention to help the centre to continue to go from strength to strength. It’s an important community asset that serves so many within Blackrod and the surrounding area. I’m looking forward to further visits to the centre and hope over the forthcoming months to visit many of the charities and sports groups that are based here. It is centres like this that provide a backbone to the local community, somewhere people can go to for support or to engage in fun activities.
